Coldplay #6

When I thought about which song truly represents Coldplay and what kind of band they are, it was very difficult to choose. They have had so many legendary and iconic songs from the upbeat "Viva la Vida" to the emotional "Yellow".  It might have been easy to think of "Viva la Vida" as their most iconic song because it was their most popular. However, I would have to say the song that really represents them is "Fix You". It was released in 2006 off their third album, X&Y. It reached number 4 in the UK Single Chart and number 18 on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Charts. It was one of the lowest rated songs on the album yet it is one of the most popular songs of today. That is part of the reason why I think of it as being the most iconic song of Coldplay's. It is also the instruments that just represents them as a band. There is the slow tempo with not much background music besides the organ and drums. This is where Coldplay does their best. It is with a simple beat where Chris Martin's voice is the most important part of the song. It is also the emotion of the song that greatly represents the band. It is the kind of song that even the most unemotional people can cry at, and that is what Coldplay is best at, making words into emotions people cannot explain.
