The first song I remember hearing by my artist Carrie
Underwood was Jesus Take the Wheel. This was one of her earlier songs, and was
released on her album Some Hearts. It was written by Hillary Lindsey and Gordie
Sampson. When asked, Carrie Underwood stated that this was a song that she
wanted to be remembered by. She wants it to be something important, and
although she loves Before he Cheats and Good Girl, Carrie feels that it is more
important that someone is able to use this song to help them through a tough time
in their life. I was introduced to her through the radio in my mom’s car. I thought
the song was very good when I first heard it, and it made me want to listen to
all of Carrie Underwood’s songs. The song is fun to listen to and easy to jam
out to in the car. However, it has a great meaning and has a story that I think
a lot of people can relate to. I think that this song represents my artist
perfectly because it shows how truly amazing her voice is and how talented she
is. It also portrays things that are very important to her such as family and
God. I also believe that the two distinct tempos within the song, the slower
lyrics with the vivace refrain make the song enjoyable to all people, even
those who may not necessarily like country.
