The First Time I Heard Miranda Lambert
Madison Clement
Years ago, I thought Miranda Lambert's
music had too much twang and her voice was somewhat obnoxious. My first
introduction to her was on a long drive up north. I didn’t like country music
to begin with, so 3 hours of listening to only country music was painful to me.
At some point, I started to enjoy the music. That was only because of Miranda
Lambert. Her song, ‘The House That Built Me’, made me fall in love with country
music. I loved how the song explains how important a childhood home will always
be. This song not only made me love country music, but it also caused me to
have a new respect for Miranda Lambert.
I think this song really represents
Miranda Lambert well. It shows that even though she has become a well-known
country music star, she will never forget where she comes from. The song was
written by Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin. Blake Shelton was originally
supposed to record this song, however, when Miranda heard it she immediately
fell in love. She related to the song and had her heart set on recording it.
Clearly, she was the right person for this song because tons of people also
fell in love with this song. I think this song perfectly represents Miranda and
I am grateful it started my country music obsession!
