Chili Peppers: Post #5

Hannah Trondle

The first song I ever heard by the Red Hot Chili Peppers was the song “Scar Tissue.” This is the first song I can recollect listening to because I started listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers when I was around the age of 4 years old. My brother and sister are ten years older than me and used to always listen to them because they were really popular for their age group at that time. I thought the song was interesting because my brother and sister liked them and I wanted to be just like them. However, their music sounded so different than anything I’ve ever heard. It sounded way different from all of the Disney songs I was accustomed to, I felt like a big girl when I listened to that song. The only was I could describe their music to other people at that age was that it reminded me of blue electricity, as funny as that sounds. Knowing all of the information I know now, I think this song represents these artists well because it’s about drug addiction and getting high, and the band, at one point was centered on drugs and partying. This song talks about the disastrous effects of their bad choices. It’s one of my absolute favorite songs and whenever I hear the name, Red Hot Chili Peppers, I always thing about their song, “Scar Tissue”.
