Tim McGraw: Post #2

Why Tim McGraw?

My first introduction to Tim McGraw was when I was over at a friend's house in 8th grade. I absolutely hated country music, and thought it was the most annoying genre of music. Although I was apprehensive at first, my friend played his song, "The Last Dollar (Fly Away)", and I started to think Tim McGraw and country music were not all too bad. I am forever grateful to her because she pushed me to enjoy a new style of music that I listen to all the time.

Many people dislike country music because they think it is all about trucks, girls, dirt roads, beer, and small towns. While this is typically accurate, country music also displays exquisite patriotism to our great nation, offers insight on how to live our lives, encourages us to seek God in times of trouble, and most importantly, advises us to live our lives to the fullest.

I chose to study Tim McGraw because not only is he a country legend, but he also produces relatable music that makes you want to sing at the top of your lungs, makes you want to cry, and makes you think twice about your life. Additionally, he is an artist who I do not listen to frequently, as I have many country singers I listen to. I also want to help all of the girls in our class develop an appreciation for the country genre, because even though some may be uneasy about country music, I guarantee it will make you appreciate your life more.

Tim McGraw is a very likeable country artist for country beginners. All of the choruses in his songs are very catchy, and usually I can never get them out of my head. He is an artist who has evolved over time with the ever-changing style of country music, but personally, I usually revisit his old songs as the greatest ones he has made.

Nothing makes me happier than blasting country music on a hot summer day, or even on a bleak winter one. Tim McGraw and his music provide hope to me on the long winter days, and make me desire for a never ending summer during the amazing summer nights. As a lover of the South and all things sweet and bright, Tim McGraw's music provides an escape from the cold life in the North, and helps me to envision life in Alabama, where I visit every summer. Everything is so great down there from the weather, the people, and the food.

I am looking forward to attending Country Music Fest in Nashville, Tennessee in June, to see Tim McGraw and all my favorite country artists. Hopefully, I will get to see him again when he comes to DTE Theater in August as well.
