1. Death Cab for Cutie has had three different drummers

2. Ben Gibbard, the lead singer and songwriter, says his main influences include Elliott Smith, Nirvana, and Pixies

3. Ben Gibbard was also in a band called The Postal Service

4. The album Narrow Stairs was their first to reach number one on the Billboard 200 chart.

5. Their album Plans was recorded during a month spent in Massachusetts at a farmhouse

6. On the TV show “The O.C.” Seth Cohen has a Death Cab for Cutie poster hanging in his room

7. The album Plans was nominated for Best Alternative Album of 2005 at the Grammy Awards

8. The name Death Cab for Cutie came from the title of a song by a 60s band called the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band

9. That song was about a girl named Cutie who got in a taxi accident after cheating on her boyfriend

10. The four original members of the band were college friends

11. Member Chris Walla was a Starbucks barista at the time the band was formed

12. Walla sold all the stock he owned in Starbucks in order to buy recording equipment
