Red Hot Chili Peppers: Post #2

I choose to study The Red Hot Chili Peppers because throughout my entire life, I’ve always listened to them. I grew up with them blaring over either my older sister or older brother’s stereo system. Whenever I listen to one of their songs, a sense of nostalgia washes over me, bringing me back to my childhood. I’ve always been interested in learning more about the group and this assignment, the Artist Blog, was the perfect opportunity to learn more about them. The style of the Chili Pepper’s music is funk-rock alternative. A particular song that I like is “By The Way,” which was on their album By The Way. The history of the Chili Peppers includes drug use, world famous and critically acclaimed albums/ internationally known and provocative performances, alternating members, and world tours. Their performances during their tours were especially subject to criticism because of their tendency to push boundaries and profane nature. The band’s front man, Anthony Kiedis has a passed filled with drug abused. This was troublesome for other band members of the Chili Peppers because they too also became involved with drugs. Many of their performances involved heavy drug use and members would often record their albums under the influence.
