12 Interesting Facts About Train

- Train created their own wine company, Save Me, San Francisco. The company also has its own line of chocolate and donates all the proceeds to Family House, which is a San Francisco based charity that provides temporary housing to ill children receiving treatment at the University of California San Francisco Benioff Children's Hospital. - The band produced their first album all on their own after being rejected by Columbia Records. After the release of this album, Columbia Records decided to sign them.
- The music video to their 2012 single, Mermaid, was filmed in Hawaii while the group was there to perform at the 2013 Pro Bowl.
- In 2010, Train released a Christmas single, “Shake Up Christmas”, which was used in Christmas commercials for Coca-Cola.
- In October of 2003, vocalist Pat Monahan called an emergency meeting because of bass player Charlie Colin’s substance abuse. He gave an ultimatum saying it’s him or me.
- In 2004, their song, Ordinary, was featured in the movie, Spider Man 2, as well as in the TV show, Heroes. In 2005 it was used again for an ad for Cingular.
- Their name came from member Rob Hotchkiss who thought trains were the most romantic things ever.
- During their three-year break, vocalist Pat Monahan released his own solo album called, Last of Seven. It featured hit singles “Two Ways to Say Goodbye” and “Her Eyes”.
- Prior to forming Train, lead vocalist Pat Monahan was a part of a Led Zeppelin cover band.
- Two members, Johnny Colt and Brandon Bush are only on one album, For Me, It’s You.
- Train’s first regular gig was at a coffee house called The Blue Front CafĂ© in San Francisco.
- “Drops of Jupiter” was written after Pat Monahan had a dream about his mother who was “Swimming through the planets” and had “drops of Jupiter” in her hair. (VH1)
